Barrow Sailing Club is situated in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, and is positioned on the mainland shore of Walney Channel, a waterway that separates Walney Island from the mainland of Barrow-in-Furness.

The Island is approximately 11 miles in length and 1.5 miles wide, running from North to South. Its western coastline faces the Irish Sea, offering views of the Isle of Man, while its eastern coastline forms one side of Walney Channel. It is home to around 11,000 residents and is connected to Barrow by the Jubilee Bridge, a lifting bridge that spans a quarter of a mile.

Barrow Sailing Club is situated to the north of Jubilee Bridge, but its members keep their boats on swinging moorings both north and south of the bridge. These moorings are primarily drying moorings, with only a few deep-water moorings available.

Walney Channel experiences varying tidal ranges, with spring tides reaching heights of 10.0 meters and neap tides going down to 6.7 meters.
