Burravoe Pier and Marina

Burravoe is located at the southeastern tip of Yell and has a long history of use as a harbour dating back to the 1500s. However, mariners should exercise caution when approaching Burravoe due to strong tides and hazardous rocks in the area. The entrance to the voe (inlet) has a 2.5-meter bar, and it's advisable to make the approach during daylight unless you have local knowledge.

Once inside Burravoe, there are three mooring options. Boaters can either tie up at the pier, use the marina, or anchor in the excellent holding ground at the head of the voe. When anchoring, it's important to use a tripping line as old moorings may be present and could cause fouling in certain areas.
