Bude Harbour

Bude Harbour, comprising Budehaven and the Inner Harbour, is a key maritime feature with a rich history dating back to the 19th century. The Inner Harbour is connected to Budehaven through a sea lock, which also provides access to the Bude Canal further upstream. The Inner Harbour is equipped with a basin and the unique distinction of having the only hand-operated sea lock in the country.

Visiting yachts can enter the Inner Basin by passing through this sea lock, and they will find alongside berths and overwintering facilities. During the summer months, around thirty small boats use tidal moorings within the harbour, serving various purposes, including sport fishing and small-scale, semi-commercial fishing for crab and lobster. Additionally, there is a wharf located about half a mile from the sea lock, connecting the canal to the tidal haven, contributing to the harbour's historical and operational significance.
