    Staithes is a small drying tidal harbour that is not suitable for vessels unable to safely take the ground. The harbour entrance is best approached on a course of 225° True to avoid outlying rock shelves that extend 500m northwards on either side of Staithes Wyke. Entry to the harbor can be hazardous with onshore winds, leading to breaking seas that should be avoided.
